Editorial remarks: I'm not sure what the organizers' vision is, but they use the word "resist" a lot. Usually that means Democrats blaming everything on Trump, but in this instance the event web page also blames the Democrats for their silence, and says the US congress does not represent the people, so we need a "people's congress." This calendar editor praises the good intentions of the "people's congress," but not their analysis. In my opinion, though we do suffer from a deficit of democracy, that hardly begins to address our problems. Getting government to more accurately represent the will of the people won't help much, because our people are far from united in their vision of what is needed, and none of the major factions has a vision that is anywhere close to what I believe is needed (LeftyMathProf.org/crazy). Personally, I am convinced that the only way to not have rule by the wealthy class is to change our form of government to one that does not have "rulers," and also change our economic system to one that does not create a small, super-wealthy class. But I could be mistaken.
