Understanding Felonism: Empowering the Formerly Incarcerated

This panel discussion is a followup to recent screenings of the documentary film "13th," which looks at the history of slavery, mass incarceration, and racial injustice in our country. The panel will discuss the difficulties that the formerly incarcerated face in terms of discrimination in housing, healthcare, and employment. We will also look at the impact these difficulties have on families and friends of the formerly incarcerated. Finally, we will address what we as a community can do to help reduce these injustices and to enable the formerly incarcerated to smoothly transition back into the community. The discussion will be in the sanctuary of Hillsboro Presbyterian Church, 5820 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville 37215.
