The Defense of Julian Assange and Wikileaks

Julian Assange, the editor of Wikileaks, exposed some of the crimes of high-ranking members of the US plutocracy. As a result, though he is not formally a prisoner, he has been holed up in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London for six years. If he steps foot outside that building, he will be seized by police (who stand watch 24 hours a day) and extradited to the USA, where he will stand trial. Not a regular trial, with due process and legal rights, but a show trial on fraudulent charges of "espionage," resulting in possibly a sentence of life imprisonment or a sentence of execution. The ongoing attack on Assange and Wikileaks is part of a wider campaign of censorship: When the "authorities" get to decide what is "fake news," then it becomes very difficult for anyone to criticize the "authorities." We need to fight back. There will be a public presentation about all this in room 121, the Goodwill Lifsey Center, 937 Herman Street, Nashville 37208.
