Bienvenidos al 1er entrenamiento y sesión de estrategia de SURJ titulado: How to Show Up in 2019.

Welcome to SURJ Nashville’s 1st ever How to Show Up in 2019 (and get things done) training and strategy session. 2018 has been a tumultuous year from daily presidential pitfalls to local land giveaways by municipal authorities (Fairgrounds!) to gentrification across Davidson county, to expansion of the police state and police brutality.

We have a lot of work to be done and in order to do so we must prepare ourselves and each other. We are hosting a half day training focused on sharing skills and strategies led by local organizers. (Agenda below)

Ever wanted to approach a tough conversation but feeling unsure about the opening line? In this workshop we will cover some best practices on how to have conversations with people about a specific issue, whether that is gathering your coworkers to discuss wages, or gathering your neighbors to discuss how white supremacy functions.

Social change is possible and we have many examples of how people have organized to bring corporations to the table. In this space we will review specific local successful campaigns where corporations were brought to the table to meet the people’s demands.
