Move to Amend discussion

Location: basement of Friends Meeting House, 530 26th Avenue N, Nashville TN 37209. Enter through the parking-lot side basement entrance. Join Move to Amend's National Director Kaitlin Sopoci Belknap for an inspiring call-to-action and discussion on the nationwide movement to pass a 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution to end corporate personhood. Learn the history of how the Supreme Court got us here and what it will take to overturn the Citizens United v. FEC decision, abolish corporate constitutional rights and get big money out of politics! Discover why abolishing corporate constitutional rights is directly connected to reforming campaign finance laws, access to safe food, providing affordable health care, strengthening worker rights, protecting the environment, and so much more. (Editorial comment: Personally, I don't have much faith in this approach. Look at what happened to the 14th Amendment -- written to protect freed blacks, it ended up protecting corporations. Laws are only as good as the society and culture backing them up. I think the only way we'll end rule by the wealthy class is when we end the wealthy class, and that requires a different economic system.)
